Okay so one of my friend and her family is an avid follower of Guruji.
 
Last when I came to Delhi in Feb, she started talking about Guruji, and it felt off to me, as if she was trying to force his blessings or ideologies on me. I am technically not an atheist, i belive in universe or higher power but i don't really follow any religious customs.

But I never questions somebody's faith. Even if they talk about their faith or God, I am always very respectful. So i listened to her and she was making it seem like it was a sign that Guruji wanted to be in touch with me through her. 

Cut to May, I shifted to Delhi for a project. And she asked me to come with her to Bade Mandir and I went, not wanting to hurt her feelings. I never said that to her or never will, but I couldn't understand the appeal of it or how it felt like a cult. That was the only vibe I got there. How extravagant that place. There is prasad which you have to finish and I cannot see any poor or underprivileged person there. Like what Is the point of seva???

In Gurudwaras Langar and Mandir bhandara I think the sole purpose is to feed the needy. 

But so much money and flower arrangements in his shrine on Bade Mandir to decorate and it felt strange to me somehow. 

Someone gave me a small card with his photo and my friend said" you are so lucky you got his blessings on the first visit."


And yes I can only see rich people there. It was so odd to me.

Mere Nani k Ghar waale inko bahut maante h. So one time there was this "Guruji ka Satsang"  . You know like Bhajan chal rhe hote h and you are supposed to have pooja ki thaali in your hands and move it clockwise. I didn't do it  on purpose (because I don't believe in that man).

So his mandir is located in chattarpur delhi and his samadhi is also there. And going back some 20-22 years this mandir was about to be sold. I know this because one of my known uncles was a part of the deal. But the deal could not be completed because the buyers insisted that the  mandir committee have to demolish the mandir because no one wants to be in the receiving end of the problem ki mandir tod dia etc.. So anyways the deal was abandoned and till then there was no sign of any guruji there but around 2012-13 when i was in college i got to know about this guruji and where his samadhi is. So it was kind of shocking to me.

People have faith in him to bring them peace and prosperity. You can only have faith in him nothing more he won’t give you money or cure your diseases himself. Weak always look for faith in these proclaimed higher beings.

I would say they should visit a therapist to clear their thoughts and have mental clarity to get out of current fragile state of mind, instead of blind faith that “Guru Ji” would shower you with business or cure someone’s cancer.

I went to his chattarpur base/ temple for a project. The project was to implement automatic attendance system of all the visitors and those who are on scheduled duties for various activities. I was so surprised by the things happening there as it was not feeling like temple. The people they’re definitely rich I could tell by looking at their cars in the parking lot. The place looked like a base and not like temple. No photos were allowed, they were very strict with their duties and if someone fails to appear there were strict rules for it. The crowd was too much for the place but organised.

The Prasad was Chai Prasad and Samosa Prasad which was extremely weird. During lunch they asked to eat in one plate in sharing. I mean three four unknown people supposed to eat in on plate. Which was unbelievable. I didn’t eat anything obviously.

Around 5pm during Aarti. Which was quite a fancy one. they forced me to sit down through it I was not even allowed to stand up. Damn that was a weird day I was so out of place.

Btw I do believe in God but not these cults.

it’s a myth that only rich people follow him cuz i’ve seen people of all classes at his ashram. i love and respect guru ji and i think you should mind your own business when it comes to religion. let people believe in what they want. no one is hurting you, especially guru ji followers. they’re very peaceful and if you see how they queue up for everything and how food is served at the ashram, you’ll have more respect for them.

It's very complicated. I believe Children of the Cult and Wild Wild Country are totally genuine and honest, but in a rather polarised and slightly muddled way. Regarding C O T C. The children were definitely abused, neglected and traumatised. It is a deep shame that it wasn't fully acknowledged at the time. Seems also it may have been brushed under the carpet by people in positions of responsibility. So, a minority group of dodgy people within the movement, abuse the freedom they have and use free spirit hippy ideas to their abusive advantage. It's very possible these abusers can go unoticed by the genuine and good people in the movement.  It's impossible that 7000 people at the Rajneeshpuram and 15000 at the Pune ashram would all be aware of what was going on and be fine with it, or even ignore it. Here's a personal example. When I was in secondary school, I smoked hash, I also smoked it at school on lunch breaks, the only people who knew about it were the other people who also smoked hash. The rest of the school knew nothing about it EVER. If the whole school new about it, or even a fraction of the school who thought hash was bad and new it was against the law, I can guarantee I would have been exposed and in trouble. People are focusing on their own lives and the good people in these places are deeply involved in the positive and life changing teachings. There are plenty of pedophiles in the church does that make Jesus bad? There is also the opposite principle in the church forcing adolescence to suppress their sexuality. Our western society has been conditioned by this principle on a massive scale, mass brainwashing. It's slowly getting better but it's been significant for centuries. We are just used to it. It became our "normal" . 


Regarding Wild Wild Country. I think the major mistake made by the Rajneesh group was where they located to build the community. It was way too close to a small town with very traditional Christian values and "village" mentality. It was quite simply a massive culture clash. This caused the most significant problems, sadly the problems were dealt with in a really bad way by Ma Anand Sheela and her assistants. Basically she screwed the whole thing up. Thoroughly stupid! Unfortunately Osho let everything be run by others, he had nothing to do with the practical side of things, no monitoring from himself. He was too busy being Osho.

So Osho is responsible for everything that happened in communities associated with his name? 

Why aren't these kids suing the Osho estate and getting the famous Rolls Royces as a compensation? I know why - because it's a ridiculous case that no real court would take on. 

However, in the court of so-called "public opinion", Osho has been dragged through the mud, not metaphorically but literally as well. He was transferred from one prison to the next for 3 weeks in the US, with no sleep and little food, before he agreed to sign on the confession that extradited him.

If it's about numbers,  especially by category like violence,  child abuse, rape, murders, etc, by the  followers of various spiritual masters, since, let's say, start of humanity on the earth, where do you think this argument will go? And where will Osho stand compared to other great ones?

It's not about masters. It's well known that the most harm is caused by the disciples, but that doesn't mean the messenger is at fault!

I have been a long time reader of Oshos work and have met hundreds of long time sannyasins over the years  and yes I do believe the personal accounts of these adults who say they were abused as children. I hope they find the strength in themselves to heal and get the justice they deserve. It's important to separate the commune from the teachings for me. I wasn't there and I would never be interested in being in a cult or in a group like that. However his teachings have been helpful to me and gave me a new way to think so has the Bible and many other teachings from different sects. It's disgusting whoever thought it was ok to hurt young children and being under a guru or in an ashram does not take precedence over personal responsibility. People still individually have their own moral compass and blaming everything on Osho is just not sustainable. The individuals themselves should be held accountable and anyone responsible for allowing what happened.

Osho has said that whatever can be found out in the world can also be found in the commune. Just because these people wanted enlightenment or higher purpose doesn't mean they were somehow higher or should be trusted. Same goes with Christian's, Buddhists... etc. the thing is constantly smearing Oshos name because of what his followers did is stupid.
